  • Position Summary

    Oasis Petroleum is looking for a Revenue Regulatory Accountant to partner with Regulatory, Land and Revenue teams to research, prepare and file all necessary regulatory accounting filings.  This position will report to the Regulatory Accounting Supervisor and is located in Houston, Texas. Level and salary commensurate with experience. 

    Essential Job Functions

    • Prepare and file all necessary regulatory reports and amendments on a timely and accurate basis including, but not limited to: 
      • Montana, Texas, and North Dakota Royalty, Severance, and Withholding Reporting 
      • Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR)
      • Escheat / Unclaimed Property
      • 1099’s
    • Responsible for researching and staying current on new and proposed regulations to ensure accurate and timely regulatory filings
    • Responsible for filing timely amendments, as required
    • Responsible for preparing various account reconciliations
    • Coordinate / Lead audits, both internal and external, including audits conducted by regulatory agencies
    • Maintain policies and procedures related to specific job duties
    • Maintain SOX compliance for all related controls
    • Interact with Regulatory Department, Land and Revenue Department to work on various initiatives
    • Assist with special projects, as needed

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related degree
    • 10 years or more of oil and gas regulatory accounting experience
    • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
    • Strong State and federal regulatory filing and related research experience
    • Ability to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with employees of various regulatory agencies
    • Comfortable giving basic presentations and the ability to confidently present ideas
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
    • Strong analytical and research skills and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines
    • Team oriented individual with experience leading teams
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
