  • Position Summary

    The Engineering Tech will be responsible for duties that include, but not limited to, gathering data, maintaining databases and providing administrative support to the Completion Engineering Team.  This position is located in downtown Houston, Texas. The role will report directly to the Completions Manager and is based in our downtown Houston location. Level and salary commensurate with experience.


    Essential Job Functions

    • Maintain and perform daily QA/QC on the reporting data base, OpenWells 
    • Ensure quality OpenWells data by reviewing and/or correcting daily drilling/completion/workover reports
    • Support engineering staff by providing output from OpenWells including KPI’s, downtime, cost review, post well reviews
    • Responsible for data entry into systems for operated wells, including key well information and performance metrics
    • Prepare and maintain databases for reporting and analysis
    • Reports include capital costs, operating costs, completion, well performance and assist in tracking performance against targets
    • Coordinate and track budgets for operated projects. Incorporate the technical aspects of development plans including identification of potential constraints on implementation and the impact on budget
    • Provide training and assist well site supervisors in the use of OpenWells
    • Track actual spending to ensure that projects meet budget objectives
    • Have an understanding of AFE packages, procedures and other support documents and assist in preparing them as requested
    • Distribute and file third party reports
    • Assist and collaborate with Accounting Team on data related to operating costs, capital and overhead
    • Gather and prepare data for regulatory hearings and managerial presentations

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School degree or equivalent
    • 5 years of E&P experience in a Completions or Drilling Tech role with a strong knowledge of operations
    • Working knowledge of a well operations database or related software package
    • Excellent  communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment
    • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel (pivot tables, vlookup function, excel formulas)
    • Working knowledge of Spotfire
    • Working knowledge of Enertia or equivalent economic software
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills a must
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
