  • Position Summary

    This individual will (i) negotiate contracts for the gathering, compression, treating and processing of natural gas in North Dakota and/or West Texas (“Upstream”) and (ii) manage gas sales and transportation for up to ~250,000 MMBtu per day of physical gas deliveries out of the Bakken primarily into Northern Border Pipeline (“NBPL”) and out of the Permian Basin (“Downstream”). This position reports to the Director of Gas Marketing and is located in our downtown Houston, TX office.  Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.


    Essential Job Functions


    Identify potential 3rd party service providers for the gathering and processing of natural gas for new development areas within area of responsibility. Negotiate long term high value agreements with reliable counterparties with favorable commercial and operational terms that ensure the capture and sale of Oasis wellhead gas production and viability of Oasis development programs. Manage and optimize the value of the long term contracts through their life cycle, enforce counterparty obligations (well connects, pressure, expansion requirements, etc.), provide support for litigation as necessary and mentor less experienced personnel.


    Ensure Oasis has a competitive and reliable market for its residue gas by managing and developing a diverse customer base for gas sales through building a portfolio of NAESB customers with a focus on firm shippers on NBPL and end-use customers. Develop and evaluate transportation capacity opportunities (short and long term). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a sales strategy for Oasis residue gas. This person will be responsible for performing economic analysis of market opportunities including short/intermediate and long term transportation, sales and storage and benchmarking and tracking of sales and transportation performance.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Energy Management, Energy Economics, Engineering or related discipline
    • At least 10 years of experience in natural gas gathering and processing negotiations and/or natural gas origination and trading
    • Supervisory experience
    • Strong understanding of gathering and processing contracts and NAESB contracts.
    • Excellent working knowledge of gas processing economics and project modeling/evaluation.
    • Strong experience in negotiation of long term business development opportunities
    • Ability to develop, maintain and grow new internal and external relationships
    • Effective planning, organization, problem solving and analytical skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Established contacts/relationships with midstream entities in Bakken and/or West Texas
    • Established contacts/relationships with all market types including utilities, distribution companies and marketing companies directly and indirectly served on Northern Border Pipeline System.
    • Expert working knowledge of the market dynamics at AECO, Empress, Ventura and Chicago area
    • Expert working knowledge of the Midwest region including gas transportation on Northern Border Pipeline, capacity acquisition opportunities, capacity release marketplace, storage, regulatory issues, etc.
    • Established contacts/relationships with Waha area markets
    • General knowledge of energy derivatives and NYMEX options
