  • Position Summary

    The Senior Landman will be responsible for the land evaluation and diligence associated with acquisitions and divestures as well as operational matters concerning the company’s non-operated activity. This positon will report to the Vice President, Reservoir Engineering and is located in downtown Houston, TX.  Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Confirm interests and analyze incoming non-operated AFEs
    • Track partner and competitor activity to generate forward-looking non-operated activity profile for planning and budgeting purposes
    • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to identify and carry out bolt-on acquisitions and trades
    • Oversee and perform all phases of land evaluation and diligence in connection with an acquisition or divestiture, including but not limited to title, JOA, lease, pooling, development planning, surface, and contract diligence
    • Negotiation and drafting of CA’s, PSA’s, ABOS’s, offer letters, etc.
    • Work with land administration, operations, accounting, and land support personnel to ensure accurate assimilation of land records and information associated with an acquisition
    • Project research utilizing multiple online resources including NDRIN, NDIC, IHS, Drilling Info.com, etc.
    • Collaborate with Oasis’ GIS team to create and develop all necessary land and competitive landscape maps
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned by manager

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Commerce or a related field
    • 5+ years of previous job related experience in the land department of an unconventional exploration and production company
    • Strong background in unconventional play asset development and leasing and the associated land contracts (leases, JOAs, SUAs, AMIs, Farmout Agreements, etc.,
    • Comfortable interpreting and understanding legal language associated with oil and gas transactional documents
    • Strong operational background.
    • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bakken experience
    • 7+ years of previous job related experience in the land department of an unconventional exploration and production company
    • Strong Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other software skills
    • Excellent writing and communication skills
    • ArcGIS application experience
