  • Position Summary

    The Recruiter is the key contact for designated managers as it relates to recruiting, onboarding, employee development, employee performance and re-recruiting efforts. The ideal candidate has a strong recruiting background with the proven ability to form and promote strong relationships across an organization and be a champion of the company culture and values.  This position is based in downtown Houston and will report to the Human Resources Manager. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Responsible for understanding the operations and strategic drivers of the company and to work directly with designated department management to successfully meet objectives
    • Works closely with hiring managers throughout the recruiting process with such activities as reviewing job descriptions, posting approved positions internally and externally, monitoring posting traffic and sourcing candidates
    • Determines the need for external recruiters based on applicant flow; assesses best agency/ recruiter to assist in search, establishes contract, sets expectations for candidate submittal and becomes direct contact between candidate and external recruiter
    • Reviews resumes, screening questions and applications; phone screens candidates as needed, recommends and schedules candidates to interview
    • Facilitates pre and post--interview meetings with hiring manager and interview team
    • Serves as a liaison between candidates and hiring managers; communicating, monitoring, and facilitating progress and addresses any concerns or questions
    • Makes job offers and manages the post offer process through onboarding
    • Stays connected to staff through promoting company events, culture and values
    • Inputs applicant flow information in the applicant tracking system and audits for completion; maintains data necessary for performance metrics and compliance requirements
    • Establishes recurring meetings throughout the year with Supervisors to stay informed with the operations of the departments, status of the workforce and to review any HR related issues
    • Engages other specialty areas of HR as needed; employee relations, benefits, compensation, training and development
    • Proactively develops strong relationships and partnerships within the HR team, Executive team, operations management, business leaders, external recruiters and other vendors
    • Tracks and reports key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity and budget; identifies key ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
    • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure company’s compliance
    • Advises, trains and becomes a point of contact for hiring managers and employees on company policies, procedures and compliance requirements with regards to recruiting and talent management
    • Participates in campus recruiting and intern events as needed
    • Works on special projects as needed or directed by management

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing or related field
    • 5 years of experience in a Recruiting or HR Generalist position
    • Is energetic with a passion to work with a variety of personalities!
    • Experience using an applicant tracking system (posting job, developing screening questions, screening applications, developing reports, recommending and implementing system enhancements)
    • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures including federal laws regarding employment practices
    • Understanding of market conditions, job competencies, sourcing strategies and candidate assessment
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Strong Microsoft skills (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Ability to travel
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 10 years of HR experience with an emphasis on recruiting
    • HR experience in oil and gas
    • Experience working iCIMS
    • Certification in one of the following: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
    • Recruiting experience in oil and gas Exploration & Production
    • Can make work fun while maintaining an objective business perspective!
