    To support the continued growth of the Company, Oasis Petroleum is seeking a detailed-oriented Sr. Staff Accountant within the Operations Accounting Department to lead the joint venture audit process from the audit’s inception through resolution.  This position reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience. 

    Essential Job Functions

    • Lead and coordinate the joint venture audit process
    • Prepare and collect pertinent documents and respond to information requests
    • Research, collaborate, document, and resolve audit exceptions
    • Ensure proper accounting treatment for identified adjustments
    • Participate in joint interest accounting discussions with both internal and external personnel
    • Provide guidance based on contract compliance and COPAS guidelines
    • Develop and implement process improvements and key metrics 
    • Handle and/or assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, economics or related discipline
    • 10 years Oil and Gas Accounting/Finance experience
    • 5 years Joint Venture Audit experience for Oil and Gas exploration, development and production activities
    • Working Knowledge of COPAS Accounting Procedures and Model Form Interpretations, Joint Venture Operating agreements and cost allocation principles
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities while ensuring timeliness and accuracy
    • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Skilled in developing, utilizing and extending network of internal and external contacts
    • Strong written and oral skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
