  • Position Summary

    The Maintenance Utilityman will be responsible for assisting with activities related to operation and maintenance of oil and gas liquid processing facilities, as well as operation of the truck unloading rack, and crude tank farm. The schedule will be M-F or 9/80 option. This position will report to the Maintenance Foreman and is located in Watford City, North Dakota.  Level and salary commensurate with experience.  

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assists with the operating of natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including but not limited to treating plants, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc.
    • Assists with the operating of the crude tank terminal, stabilizer and truck unloading equipment.
    • Assists with monitoring and regulating valves and controls to operate equipment in the recommended or prescribed operating ranges
    • Assist with equipment preparation for maintenance activities including but not limited to permitting, lock out tag out, decommissioning, etc. 
    • Provides visual inspection of equipment and controls to detect malfunctions or need for repairs, adjustments, or lubrication
    • Assists mechanics and others in performing repairs to equipment
    • Provides relief for the Plant Operators which monitors plant and pipeline operations and responds appropriately to emergency or upset conditions
    • Provides relief for the Plant Operators in monitoring of gas/oil/produced water gathering system through SCADA and notifies plant supervisor of situations that could affect gas deliveries  
    • Implements safe work practices and participates in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, the public, and the environment at all times
    • Reads, monitors, and records various operating conditions such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, etc
    • Assists with operating the truck unloading rack
    • Assists with tank to tank transfers of crude and operating a VRU system
    • Receives shipments, inspects for proper quantity and quality, and stores inventory at proper locations within the warehouse. Investigates and resolves problems regarding shipment discrepancies.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to comply with PHMSA DOT regulations
    • Must be able to commute to and from location on a daily basis
    • Ability to analyze, adjust, and perform minor repairs on equipment
    • Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
    • Demonstrated ability to access and/or perform basic computer functions utilizing company software applications
    • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and to handle competing demands with flexibility
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    • Able to handle exposure to noise, extreme weather conditions, and areas where hazardous chemicals are present
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively
    • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug screen, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, and to be able to meet all physical requirements of the job

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1 year oil & gas industry experience, midstream, gas plant operations; or related work experience
    • Knowledge of gas and liquid measurement
    • Candidate live within a 50-mile commuting radius
    • Some knowledge of the operation, control and general design of various kinds of systems typically present in a processing plant is required
    • Knowledge of compressor station, storage field, gathering field, and/or processing plant operations
    • Knowledge of and training pertaining to gas and liquid processing fundamentals; applicable company and government operating practices and procedures; safe handling of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems
    • Experience leading roustabout crews
