Position Summary

The Financial Reporting Analyst will work as part of the Financial Reporting team responsible for ensuring that all financial statements, reports and disclosures are complete, accurate and timely for SEC reporting, and for internal reporting to our Executive team.

Salary and level will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions


  • Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements and related schedules for the monthly financial package; attend and participate in monthly financial review meetings with management
  • Compile monthly and quarterly variance analysis and explain significant variances in financial statement accounts, utilizing input from the respective account owners in the Accounting department
  • Compile, draft and review 10-K and 10-Q drafts; update disclosures for the current reporting period; ensure SEC compliance of 10-Q/K through review of financial statement disclosure checklists, authoritative accounting guidance and other resources
  • Coordinate with other departments to obtain information for 10-K/Q disclosures
  • Tie out all SEC filings and maintain organized tie-out binders to facilitate easy access to supporting documentation
  • Prepare/review XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes for Forms 10-K and 10-Q
  • Record monthly journal entries related to stock-based compensation, non-controlling interests, equity in earnings and mark-to-market derivatives, including preparation of related supporting schedules and account reconciliations
  • Reconcile intercompany receivable and payable accounts, and ensure intercompany balances are properly eliminated on a consolidated basis
  • Coordinate with independent auditors in order to facilitate a successful audit and provide documentation requests as necessary
  • Draft quarterly press releases and review investor presentations, Board presentations and other materials for accuracy
  • Assist the legal group with the annual proxy statement and all registration statements
  • Responsible for ensuring data is accurately maintained in the accounting system, including opening and closing monthly financial periods and chart of accounts maintenance
  • Monitor and assess impact of new GAAP and SEC guidelines
  • Maintain SOX controls
  • Participate in special projects, as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Exposure to financial reporting and SEC filings
  • Excel proficient
  • Proactive and deadline driven
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Upstream/midstream oil and gas client or industry experience
  • Experience with XBRL
