  • Position Summary

    With the continued growth of the Company, we are looking to establish a change control function within our IT organization to manage, prioritize, and provide valuable insight to the processes and projects surrounding changes to applications and data flow. The IT Change Control Analyst will work closely with project teams that work on initiatives that impact the IT environment to highlight upstream and downstream impacts that the project will have on users of various applications as well as with the Data Governance team to communicate potential impact to the master data management process.  Additionally, this individual will manage and prioritize deployments, ensure requisite QC and UAT procedures have been followed, and communicate effectively to affected users of timelines and expectations of deployments.

     

    The IT Change Control Analyst will be responsible for managing and communicating change that impacts applications utilized by the Company as new software is introduced and/or when changes to existing applications occur. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Manage and update the Company’s technical map of its universe of systems and applications
    • Participate on project teams to communicate the impact that planned changes may have to other applications, data, and users that are both upstream and downstream of the project focus
    • Provide input to assist developers/vendors decision-making processes for new, completed changes, emergency and scheduled changes
    • Assess the impact of all submitted change requests, ensuring their adherence to the SDLC and that they do not have an adverse impact
    • Prepare test and integration environments for new releases
    • Review release notes and communicate with developers to understand technical requirements and prepare plan for deployment
    • Perform deployments of releases into test, integration and production environments and the flexibility to execute these tasks outside of normal business hours as needed
    • Manage risks and resolve issues that impact the quality of the changes included in the release
    • Work with all teams to drive continuous improvements to change and/or release procedures
    • Utilize Microsoft SCSM to initiate and manage all change requests
    • Work with end users to ensure testing is thorough and timely
    • Perform post deployment review after releases are completed
    • Train and support software development teams in the practice and use of the Change Management process and tools
    • Work with the Data Governance Team to identify, communicate, and/or resolve data quality and data integration issues within the business unit / operational systems resulting from a change to the application universe

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field
    • 3 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
    • 2 years of oil and gas experience with a general understanding of oil and gas operations, terminology, and how information flows through the business
    • Prior experience in a change/release management role
    • Proficient in SQL Management Studio
    • Experience in requirements gathering
    • Solid understanding of business and data life cycles
    • Excellent communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
    • 3 years of oil and gas experience with a general understanding of oil and gas operations, terminology, and how information flows through the business
    • 2 years of experience in a change/release management role
    • Formal training in project management practices
