    With the continued growth of the Company, we are looking to add a lead to our growing team of data stewards to implement industry leading solutions and best practices surrounding data governance as well as manage the processes, people and projects surrounding the Company’s data management initiative. The IT Data Governance Lead will work closely with executive sponsors (Data Governance Council) and data stewards/owners across various business units to support and implement high-quality technological solutions and manage data governance processes to ensure consistent, high-quality data is delivered throughout the organization to enable effective decision-making. This individual will provide thought leadership to usher the Company into an era of structured data management and viewing data as an asset. Additionally, this individual will provide leadership in any change management effort resulting from data governance to ensure communication of changes has been broadcasted throughout the global organization. This position will report to the Director of IT Strategy and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience. 


    Essential Job Functions

    The IT Data Governance Lead is responsible for assisting the company with defining and executing the data quality and data governance policies for the company:


    • Identify /communicate / implement data requirements and define business rules for data quality by working along with IT Analysts, Business Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts
    • Become ultimate authority on data definitions, data standards and quality metrics
    • Work with Data Stewards, Data Reporting Leads to identify and resolve data quality and data integration issues within the business unit / operational systems
    • Identify and resolve data quality and data integration issues within the business unit / operational systems
    • Participate in user acceptance testing of Data Updates and MDM releases
    • Ensure compliance with processes and data quality rules
    • Provide inputs in identification & prioritization of data quality and reporting issues.
    • Facilitate communication around importance of shared data standards, policies, metrics
    • Drive a company culture of “Data is an Asset” message and share the importance of using shared terminology and data standards

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field
    • 2 years of oil and gas experience with a general understanding of oil and gas operations, terminology, and how information flows through the business
    • 2 years of Data Management experience
    • Proficient in SQL programming
    • Experience in requirements gathering
    • Solid understanding of business and data life cycles
    • A strong believer of data governance benefits and efforts
    • Thorough understanding of business processes, business rules, and data rules required for a given data type
    • Strong recognition and expertise in minimizing business impact due to missing standards and bad quality data

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience using Profisee Maestro
    • Experience implementing a Data Governance Policy and Process
    • Experience managing employees and resources whether direct or indirect reports
    • Understanding on how information flows through the business from field to back office
    • Strong knowledge and background on data issues and data values related to the content owned
    • Hands-on experience on data integration and data quality management tools and best practices
