  • Position Summary

    With the continued growth of the Company, this individual will be responsible for partnering with various groups within the organization to drive and deliver technology solutions to address business needs, changing processes, and process improvement. The IT Business Analyst will work with a team of IT Business Analysts that engages business units to gather and document requirements for technological solution requests and then actively executes on developing the solution or teaming with the IT Strategy group to assist with the development of the solution.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the underlying processes of an upstream and/or midstream oil and gas company coupled with the technical wherewithal to deliver solutions to the business.  Furthermore, this individual will have an ability to develop strong relationships and an effective partnership through their communication and interpersonal skills.  Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Analyzing complex business problems and assessing how technology can be implemented or modified to solve them
    • Formulating and defining objectives and the scope of business systems
    • Gathering data and analyzing business and user needs in consultation with both business managers and end user
    • Prioritize requirements from various stakeholders
    • Transforming information gathering into an effectively organized document for internal or external IT resources to consume for development effort
    •  Partner with key stakeholders of various business units to establish holistic and comprehensive understanding of underlying business processes, KPIs, reports and reporting cycle, and current and future needs
    • Share regular status updates to key stakeholders as input is needed and any risks arise
    • Work with end users to develop test plans for new releases
    • Actively work on the technical development of technology solutions, such as the development of reports or modification of an existing application, to be delivered to the business by partnering with internal and/or external IT resources

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field
    • 2 years of oil and gas experience with a general understanding of oil and gas operations, terminology, and how information flows through the business
    • 2 years of consulting or BA experience
    • Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries
      • SQL Server Integration Services
      • SQL Server Analysis Services
      • SQL Server Reporting Services
    • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
    • Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
