  • Position Summary

    The Drilling Engineering team is currently seeking a senior level technician to support ongoing operations. Reporting to the Drilling Manager, the successful candidate will track drilling performance KPI’s, estimate accruals, track and prepare AFE’s preparation, analyze costs, research offset wells, update and prepare drilling procedures, and ensure drilling reports/data base accuracy and quality.  This role will work out of Oasis’s downtown Houston location. Level and salary commensurate with experience. 

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist engineers in preparing AFE’s, drilling procedures, and other supporting documents
    • Analysis work on cost actual vs estimates with the generation of accurate accruals by rig
    • Assist in preparing operations input to accounting group – e.g. operating costs, capital, overhead, for budget preparation and updates
    • QA/QC morning reporting data base Open Wells
      • Ensure quality Open Wells data by reviewing/correcting daily drilling/completion reports
      • Support engineering staff by providing output from OpenWells including KPI’s, Downtime, cost review, Post Well Reviews, etc.
    • Input data for operated wells into Oasis’ systems, including key well information and performance metrics to generate accurate KPIs for the Drilling Department
    • Prepare and maintain databases for engineering analysis – e.g. drilling performance metrics and trends
    • Prepare data and reports to assist engineers in tracking performance against targets.
    • Gather data and prepare engineering exhibits for regulatory hearings and managerial presentations

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED Equivalent
    • 3 years Oil and gas industry experience as an Engineering Tech
    • Working knowledge with a morning report database like Open Wells or equivalent
    • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment; Computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills a must
    • Basic knowledge of the drilling process
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Experience with technical or business analysis software: Spotfire, Power BI, Compass directional planning software, Drilling Info, IHS, etc.
    • Demonstrated behaviors and accomplishments reflecting cross-functional knowledge, and independent actions.
