  • Position Summary

    The Measurement Technician insures the integrity and reliability of oil, gas, and water meters, measurement recording equipment, and perform operations and maintenance at meter site locations in compliance with company policy and procedures, and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.  This position is located in Watford City, North Dakota.  Level and salary commensurate with experience. 

    Essential Job Functions

    • Test, calibrate, operate, maintain, and inspect oil, gas and NGL flow meters, temperature , pressure transmitters and various measurement equipment
    • Obtain Oil/Gas/NGL samples
    • Witness testing and calibration of 3rd party measurement equipment
    • Complete applicable reporting and documentation of key operating parameters
    • Maintain calibration and various other reports
    • Set and maintain calibration schedule
    • Approve construction flow testing of all new measurement equipment.
    • Adhere to all safety policies and practices
    • Communicate and interface with measurement, production, and third party operators when required
    • Follow and stay up to date with API standards and attend API training programs
    • Ensures that the facilities are operated, within safe operating limits, and maintained in compliance with all company policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations including but not limited to DOT/PHMSA regulations.
    • Performing monthly Pipelines/Terminal gain/loss analysis
    • Providing resolution suggestions regarding measurement system failures, including hands on troubleshooting and repairs when required
    • General lab experience operating various analytical equipment.
    • Obtain working knowledge of each lab test and analytical instrument
    • Working knowledge of laboratory tests and procedures used to monitor and to certify products
    • Other duties assigned by supervisor

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school degree or equivalent
    • 2 years oil & gas industry experience, midstream, gas plant operations or related work experience
    • Ability to comply with DOT Regulations
    • Ability to manage conflicting priorities while meeting work deadlines
    • Ability to work in team environment
    • Good verbal and written communications skills
    • Knowledge of safety requirements and practices
    • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Email, ability to learn company‐specific programs)
    • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
    • Strong technical skills 
    • Must be able to work all shifts / schedules as needed as well as scheduled on-call weekends
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and to handle competing demands with flexibility
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work well with others and be self directed with only general supervision

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Technical degree or equivalent experience
    • 5 years oil & gas industry experience, midstream and gas plant operations
    • Candidate must live within a 50-mile commuting radius
