  • Position Summary

    This position will be responsible for a wide variety of Employee Relations areas including handling employee concerns, counseling managers and employees, developing programs to promote employee retention and employee engagement, policy development and administration, regulatory compliance, ad hoc projects, and training in specific areas related to all of the above. This position will report to the Human Resources Supervisor and is located in downtown Houston, TX.   Level and salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Act as internal resource/coach for supervisors, managers and other HR staff on issues related to employee performance, Oasis HR sponsored programs and compliance
    • Provide counsel and direction to promote consistent and fair administration of employee correction and disciplinary actions throughout the employment lifecycle
    • Conduct effective HR investigations as necessary
    • Administer programs and compliance to laws or regulations, including but not limited to: FCRA, FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA, Title VII, Workers Comp, UGESP/employment testing, etc.
    • Develop, administer and interpret policies and procedures (e.g., Employee Handbook, DOT compliance, non-DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program, Educational Assistance Reimbursement program, etc.)
    • Provide guidance for best practices and adherence to the requirements of EO 11246, §503, and §4212, etc.
    • Prepare and/or coordinate preparation of the Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) and provide associated management training
    • Compile and submit annual compliance reporting for EEO-1 and VETS-4212 reports
    • Participate in and/or lead special projects or other HR related assignments as required by the Company’s growth and new HR initiatives
    • Work within HR organization to establish and maintain HR data and systems that lead to strategic and compliant HR data and processes, including ensuring that the applicant tracking system and HRIS are set up to properly record and maintain the necessary data to facilitate preparation of the AAPs and other analytics
    • Stay abreast of new developments, current legal trends, and new or changed state and federal laws and regulations impacting employees
    • Work with the HR team and key managers to identify retention strategies and recommend opportunities for improved employee engagement

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or other relevant field, or law degree
    • Minimum 5 years exempt level experience in HR or related field
    • Experience conducting internal investigations
    • Working knowledge of employment law and regulations
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Ability to use good judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information
    • Strong diplomacy skills and ability to persuasively influence outcomes
    • Detail orientation with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • Ability to travel 10%-15%
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Oil and gas experience and/or labor & employment law experience
    • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP designation
    • Experience writing policies and procedures
    • Multi-state employer experience
