  • Position Summary

    Oasis Petroleum is seeking an innovative and results-driven leader specializing in reservoir engineering and corporate reserves management. He/she will supervise the corporate reserves team, coordinate each reserve reporting cycle and related duties, and will report to the General Manager of Reservoir Engineering. This leader will have a proven history of applying technical reservoir engineering skills, assessing proven and unproven reserves, applying pertinent SEC/SPEE reserves guidelines, coordinating cross functional projects, and collaborating with a wide variety of disciplines and consultants. The position is based in Houston, TX.  Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Supervise reserves team engineering and support staff
    • Successfully complete reserve reporting requirements to satisfaction of Oasis Chief Engineer
    • Manage relationship and effective process with external reserve consultants
    • Collaborate with functional managers to deliver effective reserve review process
    • Inform management of industry and regulatory trends regarding reserves reporting
    • Design or select tools and processes to ensure reserves management process is effective and efficient
    • Assist with coordinating various corporate reporting needs
    • Other duties as assigned by manager

    Minimum Qualifications

    • B.S. in Engineering
    • 5 years of experience in reservoir engineering with an emphasis on unconventional reservoirs
    • 5 years of experience in reserves reporting roles
    • Strong understanding of industry reserve reporting rules and guidelines
    • Experience performing and leading reserve review efforts
    • Experience leading multi-discipline projects
    • Strong background in economics and business principles
    • Strong ability to communicate effectively across all functions in the organization
    • Aptitude towards process improvement
    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

    Preferred Qualifications

    • B.S. in Petroleum Engineering
    • 15 years combined experience in reservoir engineering and reserves management
    • Management/supervisory experience, preferably leading a reserves team
    • Outgoing & willing to lead by example; brings ideas to the table
    • Actively participates in industry technical events
