Position Summary

The Engineering Tech will support Oasis Well Services by ensuring high quality and timely operational and performance data is freely available to internal and external stakeholders. The Engineering Tech will work closely with field and office staff and will enable the success of the organization by collecting and disseminating information reliably. The Engineering Technician will be responsible for duties such as gathering data from a variety of sources; managing and improving data collection and reporting systems and processes; maintaining databases; and providing system support to Oasis Well Services office and field staff.  This position is located in downtown Houston, Texas and reports to the Oasis Well Services Supervisor. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Build, maintain, and manage operations databases
    • Ensure quality data by reviewing and/or correcting daily operations reports
    • Create reports and presentations including operational information and performance metrics
    • Generate statistics and trends using data from a variety of sources in a simple and repeatable manner
  • Simplify and modernize collection, reporting, and storage of field operations data
    • Improve data collection processes, daily reporting, and quality control
    • Actively transition simple data collection systems to more robust databases used across Oasis Well Services and Oasis Petroleum
  • Perform trend analysis of information related to capital costs, operating costs, completion and frac data, daily operations performance, and maintenance data
  • Track daily, monthly, and yearly targets versus actuals for key metrics
  • Support field and office staff with preparation for weekly, monthly and quarterly reviews
  • Support office staff with accurate characterizations of operations performance
  • Review and gather operations data as needed for internal and external audits
  • Contribute and support activities of cross-functional teams working on initiatives in the Oasis Petroleum organization
  • Participate with special projects and presentations as needed
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years engineering tech experience 
  • Excellent  communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, with understanding of other common business programs
  • Strong  analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related 4-year technical degree
  • SQL database design
  • Familiarity with well servicing operations including fracturing, wireline, cementing, and coiled tubing
  • 5 years of oilfield experience in a related job
  • Working knowledge of a well operations database, similar to OpenWells, WellView, SiteView or RigView
  • Work experience in a Completions Technician, Production Technician, Drilling Technician, or Well Services Engineer role
  • Experience with Open Wells, Enertia, and computerized maintenance management software
