Position Summary

Oasis Petroleum is currently seeking an intern to support the Environmental team. The primary function of this role is to provide supervised environmental air quality support for Oasis Petroleum field operations.

 

The environmental intern will primarily focus on Air Quality aspects of the environmental function and will work with engineers, planners, operations, safety, environmental professionals, IT staff, and other Departments to complete project driven analysis and evaluation of air quality compliance. The successful candidate will also participate in activities that may include regulatory review and interpretation, technical calculations and estimations. The candidate will be required to present process improvement recommendations to management at the end of the summer based on the project scope and completion at the end of the summer. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Calculate and estimate emissions, energy demands, field work and conduct environmental impact assessment
  • Develop and support plans, programs, and procedures guiding regulatory compliance
  • Communicate with cross functional teams within the organization
  • Incorporate any Federal or State rules/regulations, rule amendments and other air quality considerations into policies and procedures as they relate to the project
  • Prepare and submit internal reports, data, and related documentation, including formal presentations to small and large groups
  • Interpret, research, develop, and potentially implement a compliance path regarding environmental regulations and internal standards including air permit documentation, emissions and analysis
  • Manage assigned project and associated documents, schedule, and deliverables with strong adherence to Oasis culture and practices.
  • Conduct all field work in a safe and environmentally conscientious manner
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

 

Interns will be assigned a mentor and a project where they will gain valuable experience and contribute to the Oasis team while managing day-to-day duties.  In addition to their project, interns will gain:

  • A fundamental understanding of the operation of their discipline
  • A basic understanding of safe processes and related behaviors
  • Experience networking and building relationships inside and outside of Oasis
  • Exposure to other disciplines not related to the summer project

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in any STEM discipline of study.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to develop presentations and communicate information to a large group.
  • Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug screen, reference and background check.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3. 0 on a 4. 0 scale

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expected graduation date of Winter 2018 or Spring 2019
