Position Summary

This individual will initially manage gas sales and transportation for up to ~250,000 MMBtu per day of physical gas deliveries into Northern Border Pipeline.   He/she will manage and develop a diverse customer base for gas sales, develop and evaluate transportation capacity opportunities and make recommendations for capacity acquisition (direct and capacity release).  This person will be responsible for benchmarking and tracking of sales and transportation performance.  This position will report to the Marketing Manager, and will be located in downtown Houston, TX.  Salary and level commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensuring Oasis has a competitive and reliable market for its equity natural gas
  • Developing a sales strategy for Oasis residue gas sales
  • Building a portfolio of NAESB customers with focus on firm shippers on NBPL and direct and indirect end use customers
  • Participation in the daily/monthly/seasonal/LT capacity acquisition process and capacity release marketplace and recommendation of capacity acquisition
  • Monitoring of pipeline maintenance schedules to take advantage of market price swings
  • OBA management
  • Review and improvement of business processes
  • Maintain excellent working relationship with Oasis upstream and midstream groups for management of daily sales and balances
  • Perform economic analysis of market opportunities including short/intermediate and long term transportation, sales and storage
  • Other duties and task assigned by manager or based on company need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Energy Management, Engineering or related discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in natural gas trading
  • Strong understanding of NAESB contracts
  • Established contacts/relationships with all market types including utilities, distribution companies and marketing companies directly and indirectly served on Northern Border Pipeline System
  • Expert working knowledge of the market dynamics at AECO, Empress, Ventura and Chicago area
  • Expert working knowledge of the Midwest region including gas transportation on Northern Border Pipeline, capacity acquisition opportunities, capacity release marketplace, storage, regulatory issues, etc.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and grow new internal and external relationships
  • Effective planning, organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • General knowledge of energy derivatives and NYMEX options
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years experience in natural gas trading
  • Established contacts/relationships with Waha area markets
