Position Summary

A Capital Accountant is needed to support the Operations Accounting Department.  This role reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor and is located in Downtown Houston.  Level and salary is commensurate with background and experience. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist Capital Accountant with monthly Accruals, Analysis, Variances and Reporting 
  • AFE Workflow Coordinator - Set-up, tracking, activation, Quarterly DOA review
  • Research and resolve Capital issues by working with Land and Operations
  • Create and Prepare Journal Entries for Capital related costs
  • Calculate and record monthly Drilling/Completion/WOC Overhead
  • Prepare Quarterly Capitalized Interest information
  • Prepare Account Reconciliations, Complete JV Audit requests and Maintain SOX compliance
  • Handle and/or assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree
  • 2 years Oil and Gas accounting experience
  • Operations Accounting/Cost Accounting experience
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively within all areas of the organization
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
